Ulua Beach
Ulua beach sits directly in front of Wailea Elua Village and just to the north of the Wailea Marriott. Ulua and the adjacent Mokapu Beach share the same driveway, parking area, bathhouse, and outdoor shower. As you face the ocean, Ulua Beach is the one on the left, and seems to be more popular than Mokapu Beach. If the seas are calm, there is good snorkeling near the lava outcropping between the two beaches.
Hours of Operation
The sign at the top of the driveway lists the "Park Hours" as 7:00am to 7:00pm, but there is no gate on the driveway or parking lots, and the guests at the hotels have unfettered access 24 hours a day, so you can probably get away with visiting at almost any time.The Wailea Patrol (a private security force) keeps an eye on things here 24 hours a day, so you're unlikely to find any late-night parties on the beach.

Getting There
Ulua Beach is accessed via a driveway off of Wailea Alaniu Drive, between the entrance for the Renaissance Wailea and the entrance for the Wailea Marriott. There is a street (Hale Alii Place) which serves as the entrace to a gated community on the opposite side of the road from the driveway.
If you're coming from Kihei along South Kihei Road, you should drive to the end of the road (where it curves left up a hill and becomes named Okolani Drive, and then turn right at a four-way stop onto Wailea Alanui Drive. The entrance will be on the right about a quarter mile after the four-way stop.
If you're coming via the Piilani Highway (state route 31), you should turn right onto Okolani Drive (the next intersection after the traffic light at Mapu Place), go down the hill to the four-way stop, and then turn left onto Wailea Alanui Drive and continue as above.
If you're coming from the south (Wailea), just take Wailea Alanui Drive north, straight through the traffic signal at the Shops of Wailea (Wailea Ike Drive), and turn left about a quarter mile past the traffic signal. It's easy to miss the turn from this direction-- if you miss it you can make a U-turn at the four-way stop and continue as above.

What's Nearby
The luxury condominium rental development Wailea Elua Village is directly above the beach. The curious similarity between the names Elua and Ulua is just that: Elua means "Two"-- there's a Wailea Ekahi ("one") and Wailea Ekolu ("three") also-- and Ulua is the Hawaiian name for a type of fish.The Wailea Mariott is just steps to the south, the Renaissance Wailea is just on the other side of the driveway, in front of Mokapu Beach.
There's a moderately priced restaurant named the Maui Onion next to the pool at the Renaissance Wailea.
