Kama'ole Beach Park III

Kama'ole III is the southernmost of the three Kama'ole Beach Parks along South Kihei Road in Kihei. It's separated from Kama'ole II by rocky outcroppings, which have good snorkeling if the water is calm. There are vacation rental and long-term rental condos across the street from the park.

Of the three Kama'ole Beach Parks, this one has the largest grassy field, near the south end of the park-- it's large enough to play a good game of touch football. There's not very much shade available around the field except at the north end, so bring sun umbrellas if you plan to set up on the grass.

On the weekends this park is a very popular place for the locals to have birthday parties and other celebrations. If it's a child's birthday, there will almost certainly be a giant inflatable "jumpy castle" (or two or three) set up, along with the requisite gasoline-powered generator (since there is no electricity available at that end of the park).

Hours of Operation

Kama'ole Beach Park III is supposedly open from 7:00am to 7:00pm daily. There are signs that say "Park Hours 7:00am to 7:00pm" but there is no way for them to prevent you from getting to the beach. The lifeguard stations are manned from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Getting There

Kama'ole Beach Park III is on South Kihei Road just south of Kama'ole Beach Park II and just north of the Kihei Boat Ramp. There is a large parking lot and additional parking on the ocean side of the road at the south end of the park. During the day you can usually park in the spaces at the end of the driveway at Kihei Shores, although this is not officially allowed.

What's Nearby

Except for the Kihei Boat Ramp just south of the park, the only things nearby are condominiums. On the ocean side of South Kihei Road there are several large condominium complexes across the street from the park, including the Maui Parkshore, the Kama'ole Sands, and the Hale Kama'ole. A bit farther south, across from the Kihei Boat Ramp, is the Maui Kama'ole.
