Kama'ole Beach Park I from the South
Kama'ole I is one of the three Kama'ole Beach Parks along South Kihei Road in Kihei. Truly beautiful and incredibly convenient, they are separated from one another by rocky outcroppings, some of which have condos or other buildings built on them. All three Kama'ole Beaches offer fabulous sand, expansive grassy fields, plenty of parking, bathrooms, showers, and safe, warm, clean water with lifeguards watching over you and your family.

Hours of Operation

Kama'ole Beach Park I is supposedly open from 7:00am to 7:00pm daily. There are signs that say "Gates open 7:00am to 7:00pm" but there are no gates, even to the parking lots, so they are unlikely to be locked. The lifeguard stations are manned from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

What's Nearby

Accomodations

Across South Kihei Road from the north end of Kama'ole I you'll find the WorldMark Trendwest Resort, a very large "vacation ownership" timeshare complex. Across Alanui Ke Ali'i Drive from the Worldmark Resort, the Ke Alii Ocean Villas are currently under construction by Towne Island Homes Ltd. Further south along South Kihei Road you'll find the Kamaole Beach Club (a mostly timeshare condo complex, although there may be some straightforward weekly rentals there).

Behind the Kamaole Beach Club, but tall enough to look out over it, is the Kamaole Beach Royale, a multi-story rental condo building with with good views of the ocean. Behind Dolphin Plaza is the Kihei Ali'i Kai, also a rental condo building, slightly farther from the shore and set at an angle to the ocean.

On the ocean side of South Kihei Road there are several large condominium buildings at the south end of the park, between Kama'ole I and Kama'ole II. These buildings are in front of the rocky outcroppings that separate Kama'ole I and Kama'ole II. They are the Royal Mauian Resort, the Kamaole Nalu, and the Hale Pau Hana, each of which rents vacation condos. Any of these buildings has excellent access to Kama'ole Beach Park II also.

Across the street in the little mall behind the Chevron gas station there is an ABC Store, where you can buy snacks and drinks, as well as alchohol and a wide array of souvenirs. In this mini mall you will also find Capt. Nemo's Scuba Shack and the Kihei Clinic, a doctor's office.

Just down the street, across from the south end of the park, is Dolphin Plaza, with Boss Frog's Dive and Surf Shop, restaurants including the Koiso Sushi Bar, Enrique's Mexican Deli, and Beach 'n' Bagelz, and the fabulous Cafe Cafe 24-hour coffeehouse with free internet access for their patrons. There are also a number of businesses that cater to local residents, including a hairdresser, two chiropractic offices, and several real estate sales and rental offices.

Further down the street you'll find yourself across from the condos that mark the south end of Kam I and the north end of Kam II.
