Charley Young Beach

Charley Young Beach

Charley Young Beach is really just the name for the northern tip of Kama'ole Beach Park I. The beach is connected to Kam I, and the lifeguards presumably guard this tip of the beach too.

At the northern tip of the beach there is a lava outcropping that makes for good snorkeling (in calm conditions) and fishing. There is also a volleyball net here which is very rarely in use, but always available for a quick game.

Hours of Operation

Charley Young Beach is open from 7:00am to 7:00pm daily. There are signs that say "Gates open 7:00am to 7:00pm" in the parking lot, which really does have gates. The lifeguard station is manned from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Getting There

The parking lot

The parking lot

Charley Young Beach is at the southern tip of Kama'ole Beach Park I. It has its own parking lot, on Kaia'u Place, which is off of South Kihei Road just north of Alanui Ke Ali'i. There is a loading zone at the end of Kaia'u Place, which makes this a reasonable area to offload kayaks, coolers, fishing gear, or whatever-- although there is a bit of a drop down to the beach.
